About Carole.

With a Bachelor of Social Science & Masters in Counselling, Carole Walton is a highly qualified, trauma-informed Counsellor with over 20+ years experience.

Children play, to learn. Something so innate in children, creates a narrative for exploring and conveying their feelings and emotions.

Adults don’t prioritise ‘play’ in the way children do. Adults need to learn to play again.

And so, Wise Heart Counselling was born.

Carole Walton

Wise Heart Counselling

Having developed an intrinsic passion for the tactile therapy of play, Carole has now opened her own private practice in Margate, on the Redcliffe Peninsula.

Having worked for both schools and non-for-profit settings, Carole has over two decades of experience working with children, adolescents and adults with complex trauma, including domestic and sexual violence. Compassion, collaboration and understanding provide the framework of Carole’s trauma-informed approach, providing a safe, non-judgemental space in a pleasant environment.

Occasionally, Carole’s labradoodle Maisie (in training) may participate in sessions as a tactile, soothing tool to provide comfort to clients in their vulnerability.

Carole’s counselling is client-led. While focusing on each individuals strengths paired with a trauma-informed approach, her framework draws from a number of evidence-based modalities specific to her clients needs.

Carole’s evolution toward Play Therapy Accreditation (end of 2023) has been a natural progression into private practice, providing Carole with a fixed practice furnished with the tools, toys (and Maisie!) and techniques to provide continuity of care, a familiar place and of course, Carole’s familiar face.
